Our preferred approach generally follows these steps:
- Analyze the business to grasp the current situation and quantify the critical needs of the organization.
- Establish a shared understanding of the current situation and the critical needs of the business; develop a clear vision of it's desired state; define what needs to be done to address the critical needs and to achieve the desired state; and determine each individual’s role in the process.
- Gain alignment of all stakeholders through a process called "Catch Ball" and establish "SMART" Goals – Simple, Measurable, Achievable, Reasonable, Trackable.
- Establish work groups and implement the Pacemaker Concept.
- Employ the use of simple tools to make problems visible and establish regular review disciplines (Check and Adjust) to sustain results.
- Establish a Standard Report Format (A3 planning documents, dashboards, weekly meetings, baby A3s and task lists).
